The Incredible story of Arad Winwin: From Fleeing Iran to Becoming an Adult Film Actor

Arad Winwin grew up in a country where identifying as gay could cost you your life. Simple daily liberties like choosing your hairstyle or shaving your beard were out of the question. “Living in Iran is not a happy life… People are merely trying to survive day by day,” he narrates.

Arad delves into the heart-wrenching decision he had to make at the age of 22 – to flee the Iranian army, leaving his loved ones behind.

“I knew I could never find happiness in a life confined within those borders.”

Arad escaped by foot across the treacherous, snow-clad mountains separating Iran and Turkey. However, being without a passport, he was arrested upon reaching Turkey and subsequently imprisoned for six months.

“At that point, Turkey was planning to deport me back to Iran where I would have faced execution for deserting the military.”

His prison experience, especially without knowing Turkish, was “horrifying.”

Inside the prison, Arad met fellow Iranians attempting to flee. They told him about the United Nations Refugee Programme. After sending a message to his parents, they hired a lawyer who facilitated Arad’s acceptance into the programme:

“I was accepted into their refugee program because the UN was aware that I faced certain death if sent back to Iran.”

Upon reaching Dallas, Arad was given $300. Despite not knowing English, he managed to secure a low-paying job at an elevator company, commuting for 3 hours on a bike each day.

“The UN requires refugees to repay their plane ticket costs, so I spent the next year trying to repay that… but at least I was free, and I appreciated the basic respect that Americans have for each other, something non-existent in Iran.”

From these humble beginnings, he found work as a go-go dancer and soon caught the attention of Andrew Christian’s brand.

“The first night I worked as a gogo, I earned more than what most people make in four months in Iran.”

This led to an invitation to become one of Andrew Christian’s Trophy Boys.

“I always dreamed of becoming a model, but that’s not even an option in Iran. Unless you strictly follow the religious laws, you risk arrest.”

Arad’s aspiration is deeply connected to recent political events, expressing his desire to “help Americans understand that most people in the Middle East are just like you and me… they long for peace and freedom, and many good people need our help.”
